Koi Nobori
Materials needed:
- white cloth (old sheets or pillow cases)
- pencil
- felt marking pens
- stapler or thread and needle
- tag board (1" x 10") or thin wire and wire cutters
- hole punch
- heavy thread or yarn for harness
Directions
- Fold cloth in half and cut to desired length (18 inches to 15 feet).
- Sketch fish design on cloth with pencil. Use this miniature pattern to help you draw the eyes, scales and tail. Elongate the fish as much as you desire.
- Color fish with felt marking pens.
- Fold the cloth lengthwise so the coloring is on the inside.
- Staple or hand stitch along the side edge. Do not staple or stitch along the mouth or tail openings. Turn the fish right side out.
- Form a circle with tag board or wire, the same diameter as the mouth. Staple or hand stitch the tag board circle or wire inside the mouth.
- Punch four holes evenly spaced around the mouth of the fish with hole punch (see inset). Make a harness from heavy thread or yarn, and fly from ceiling, window or a pole.
